Overview

Doog manufactures and sells the “THOUZER Series” collaborative transport robots, which are widely used in factories, warehouses, maintenance sites, workplaces, and service industries in Japan and overseas. The THOUZER series is the only product registered under the “Unmanned Guided Vehicle (AGV/AMR)” category for the SME Labor-saving Investment Subsidy Program, which started in April 2024. The series is known for its ease of operation and high customizability.

This time, Doog has developed the “THOUZER Cross” prototype using Suzuki’s planned electric mobility base unit. The prototype is equipped with power steering and large front wheels, improving its off-road capabilities compared to previous THOUZER models. Additionally, it benefits from Suzuki’s expertise in electric wheelchairs, offering advantages in reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Suzuki’s electric mobility base unit prototype has already been utilized by other robotics companies. However, by integrating it into the THOUZER platform, Doog aims to provide a transport robot with advanced autonomous navigation and high customizability, making it easier for system integrators and end users to tailor the solution to specific work environments.

Future Development

Doog will test the THOUZER Cross at the “Tsukuba Challenge,” a public road autonomous driving experiment held in Tsukuba City. Throughout 2024, the prototype will be evaluated under various terrain conditions. Additionally, Suzuki plans to showcase the THOUZER Cross at the International Logistics Exhibition 2024 and other trade shows to support ongoing marketing activities.

Moving forward, Doog will continue sharing design information and test results with Suzuki as they advance the development of the electric mobility base unit. The possibility of commercializing the THOUZER Cross as part of the THOUZER series will be explored based on these findings.
